Cancellation Policy:

In the event that you need to cancel your reservation with us within one week of your arrival date, we do reserve the right to retain your deposit or charge you for the first nights accommodation unless we have been able to resell the room.  If more than one weeks notice of cancellation is given, no charges are incurred and your deposit will be refunded to you.

It is the responsibility of the guest to confirm all dates and availability from Email correspondence with The Plaine prior to arrival

As you can imagine we are not always on the property so please ensure you confirm your check in time with us prior to arrival!

 

Access Statement For The Plaine

Introduction

We offer a warm welcome and endeavour to cater to the needs of all our guests. We have Bedrooms with En Suite facilities. We offer a wonderful Full English Breakfast made with fresh local produce. Vegetarians, children and Dogs are welcome by pre arrangement.

Pre-Arrival

  • We are located in the centre of a picturesque village 6 miles from Bath City Centre
  • There is a Bus Stop next to our Rear Car Park. There is a concrete pavement from the Bus Stop to our entrance. There are stone slabs from the entrance to the Front Door. The distance is only approx: 10metres
  • We can organise collection from Bath Spa Train or Bus Station or Bristol Airport
  • The main Bath Spa Station is 15 minutes away by car
  • There is a local taxi service and we can make bookings for you

  • There are two wonderful pubs within a few steps of our front door. Both of them serve excellent food & beverages

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  • On arrival to the property there is a Car Park at the rear of the house with ample space for 3 cars
  • The surface of the Car Park is gravel and the pavement to the front entrance of the house is concrete paving.
  • The pavement to the house is on a slope
  • The distance from the Car Park to the front of the house is approximately 50 metres
  • We can assist guests with luggage
  • All guests must come to the Front Entrance of the house
  • The property is located in the Centre of the village of Norton St Philip
  • There are signs on the Car Park wall, on the side of the property and a big hanging sign at the front of the house

Main Entrance & Reception

  • The Front door has an antique pull bell and a smaller push bell. These can be reached from an average adults height
  • The Front Door is always locked but can be opened from within
  • Guests will be given a Front Door key upon arrival
  • The Front Door is 90cm wide
  • The Front Door has one step 10cm high
  • On entry to our home there is a hallway 4.5 x 2.5 metres
  • There is seating provided in the hallway
  • There is slate stone floor in the hallway

Public Areas - General (Internal)

  • Our corridors to the Ground Floor and Dining Room are 82 - 93cm wide
  • Corridors have neutral colours and are well lit throughout
  • The flooring on the Ground Floor is carpet
  • The stairs are made of stone. There are 15 steps from the Ground Floor to the First Floor. They are curved and have a solid wooden handrail all the way up. The stairs are 80cm wide, 22cm deep, 20cm high
  • Dog water and water Bowl are available on request
  • The Dining Room and Bedroom Number 3 are on the Ground Floor
  • There is a small step in the corridor to Bedroom 3 on the Ground floor. It is 9cm high

Public Areas - WC

  • Bedrooms are En Suite but no public WC is available

Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Lounges, Take Away & Cafe

  • Breakfast is served in the Beamed Dining Room on the Ground Floor
  • There are no steps into the Dining Room. Double Doors open in the Dining Room. Door width when open 110cm
  • Furniture is flexible and can be moved upon request
  • Tables have under space of 67cm high by 120cm wide and a height of 74cm. There are chairs with and without arms which can be moved to accommodate
  • We normally play soft music during breakfast however this can be turned off upon request
  • Dining Room has carpet on the floor and low ceilings as you would expect in a 16th Century property

  • A small Laundry & Ironing Service is available upon request

  • We have a small sheltered Courtyard on the Ground Floor at the rear of the property. There is a small table and chairs for guests use

Conference & Meeting Rooms, Banqueting, Clubs, Entertainment

  • Guests can use the Dining Room for meetings by prior appointment. If a group are staying and they would like to meet in the Dining Room during the day we can organise lunch by prior appointment
  • We have a cosy Guest Lounge area with easy chairs in the Dining Room. Guests are welcome to relax here
  • Guests can have parties at The Plaine and events can be co-ordinated at the two local pubs. Information upon request

  • There are 3 bedrooms. One on the ground floor and 2 on the first floor

GROUND FLOOR BEDROOM (Room 3)

  • (Large Four-Poster Bedroom with decorative stone fireplace & En Suite facilities)

FIRST FLOOR BEDROOM (Room 2)

  • (Large Four-Poster Bedroom with En Suite Bathroom with Shower over Bath)
  • From the main stairs there is a corridor to the first floor bedrooms. This corridor is 92cm wide.
  • There is short pile carpet on this corridor.
  • There are two steps down then three steps up to reach the First Floor bedrooms. Each of the steps is 20cm high and 26cm deep
  • Door widths 73cm
  • At least 125cm routes within bedroom e.g.: to the sides of the bed
  • Furniture is moveable upon request
  • Bed is 50cm high at mattress height
  • Television with remote control

  • This room is ideal for those wanting extra beds in the room. There is plenty of space for two full size put up beds either side of the Double Four- Poster bed and it has a full bath instead of simply a shower

  • From the main stairs there is a corridor to the other two bedrooms.
  • There is carpet on this corridor. There are two steps down then two steps up to reach the First Floor bedrooms. Each of the steps is 20cm high and 26cm deep
  • There is a small step into this bedroom. It is 7cm high

  • At least 85cm routes within bedroom e.g.: to the sides of the bed

  • Close to the property there are many attractions for the visitor. These include Longleat House & Safari Park, Cheddar gorge, Stonehenge, Thermae Bath Spa, Bristol Zoo, National Trust Properties, Canal Walks, Bike Hire & Horse Riding

Additional Information

  • We have two pubs within a few steps of our front door for good food and drinks.
  • We can cater for intimate weddings, birthday parties, family gatherings & relaxing friends breaks
  • Assistance Dogs are welcome
  • We have Wifi Internet Access throughout the house
  • Mobile Phone reception is generally good
  • We are a no smoking house (Smoking is allowed in the small courtyard which has level entry and an ashtray is provided)
  • We can put some food items in our main fridge on request (Not available 24 hours)
  • We are able to use the Front & Back Door in the need of evacuation. If you require more assistance for evacuating please notify us upon arrival e.g: hearing impaired
  • We would be glad to make dinner reservations for you and can make suggestions on several hostelries close by
  • Extra beds are available to go into all rooms upon request. We also have a cot and high chair for our smaller guests
