Stonehenge
The great and ancient stone circle of Stonehenge is one of the wonders of the world. What visitors see today are the substantial remnants of the last in a sequence of such monuments erected between circa 3000BC and 1600BC.
There has always been intense debate over quite what purpose Stonehenge served. Certainly, it was the focal point in a landscape filled with prehistoric ceremonial structures, now a World Heritage Site.
Glastonbury

Wells
This gentle market town, although officially a City!, is only a short drive from The Plaine through some of Somersets most beautiful countryside. In its centre stands the majestic Cathedral, a peaceful & joyful place. Spend time here in the cobbled streets or wandering around the beautiful Bishops garden with its watery moat.

Dyrham Park
Victorian domestic quarters give an insight into life below stairs while elegant formal gardens, woodland, and lakes are yours to explore. Dyrham Park was the Film location for Remains of the Day (1993)
Lacock Abbey & Village
Lacock Abbey & House: This uniquely preserved country village is home to a Country house created out of a medieval abbey, former home of William Henry Fox Talbot, a pioneer of photography . With its newly-restored botanic gardens and greenhouse Lacock village has been the location for many films including Harry Potter, Pride and Prejudice, Cranford Chronicles and The Other Boleyn Girl
Stourhead
A World-famous 18th-century landscape garden and Palladian mansion with enchanting temples, monuments and rare planting around a tranquil lake. The Palladian mansion is filled with Georgian treasures, Chippendale furniture and fine paintings while King Alfred’s Tower offers spectacular views
Jane Austen Centre
The Jane Austen Centre at 40 Gay Street in Bath is a permanent exhibition which tells the story of Jane's Bath experience - the effect that living here had on her and her writing. With costumes and tearooms and a wonderful gift shop this is a MUST see for any Austen lovers.
Bradford on Avon
A tranquil Mill Town just a few miles from The Plaine Bradford on Avon offers visitors an early 14th Century Tithe Barn now owned and maintained by English Heritage along with picturesque walks along the canal and river banks. Marvel at the stone bridgework and enjoy ‘tea’ in a traditional setting.
Castle Combe Village & Racetrack
With a race circuit that enjoys a reputation for first class motor racing and a village that has one Best of Britain Awards in several categories Castle Combe is an enjoyable day out whilst visiting The Plaine.
